New Year...New Plan

1/4/2024

Happy New Years! The saying that the days may be long but the years go by fast feels true to me today. Some days just drag and wear me down, but then I blink and the year is done.
Thinking of the new year brings out questions of new years resolutions. I have mixed feelings about new years resolutions. I'd rather set goals for the year than resolutions, which led to a conversation with my kids about what is the difference between goals and resolutions or are they the same? What are your thoughts? (you can email me by replying to this email).
But I'm getting off topic. Regardless of whether you're a new years resolution/ goals setter I want to encourage you to do this one thing this year.

 Take care of you.
Ya ya, you might be thinking... the old "self-care" talk. But don't go yet. Think about it. You put tons of energy into taking care of others and various tasks. You take care of your kids, and perhaps a spouse or partner. You think about what the family will eat, doctor and dentist appointments, school stuff, the kids' sports, activities and appointments, maybe you help care for your parents, maybe you care for a pet, you have a home to run and all that goes with it as well as work or volunteering outside the home. You are taking care of a ton, and you are doing good work.
And just like we know we can't keep driving our car without ever stopping for gas, we do know that we as humans, can't keep going and going without taking care of ourselves... but we tend to push this one to the limit. Why? Because there is so much to do! Or it feels selfish to take care of ourselves. Or we don't really know what would "fill our cup". Or we don't have the support we need to be able to take our foot off the gas pedal and take care of ourself.
So what do you need to do to take care of yourself this year? Most parents will benefit for making a plan for self-care, it's just too easy to skip it without a plan.
To help you with your self-care I have a downloadable recorded webinar for you. It's only $9 and you are worth it! Here's a link:
