Before the school year swoops in and takes over completely — before the early mornings and the packed lunches and the permission slips find their way back into your life — I want to give you one simple, beautiful thing to do with your kids this week.
Reflect on your summer together.
Not with a formal sit-down or a structured activity. Just a conversation. A few good questions. And the willingness to laugh, remember, and be present together one more time before the season changes.
This is the final post in our August series on making the most of the end of summer and transitioning well into the school year. And I saved this one for last because I think it might be the most meaningful of all.

The supplies. The schedules. The new shoes. The lunch plans. The carpool arrangements.
And all of that matters. We talked last week about the power of practical preparation — driving by the school, teaching kids to set their own alarm, stocking the kitchen with favorite breakfasts.

Here's something I've noticed over years of parenting and coaching --
Kids who feel prepared feel confident. And kids who feel confident transition so much more smoothly into a new school year.
Not perfectly prepared. Not over-scheduled or over-drilled. Just prepared enough to answer the quiet question every child carries into a new school year:
"Do I know what I'm doing? Am I going to be okay?"
The good news is that building that confidence doesn't require a lot of time or money. It just requires a little intentionality in the days before school begins.
