The time between Thanksgiving and Christmas can be a whirlwind. There is so much to do!
If you're like lots of parents that I talk with, you may be feeling sort of like you just need to get THROUGH the holidays. But let's reclaim this season, cut out the crazy and find joy in the journey. Here are two tips to get started. 1) Make time for YOU It isn't selfish to take care of yourself. When we, as parents and caregivers, are stressed and anxious it trickles down to our kids. So, taking care of yourself means you'll have a happier, healthier family as well. What do you need to do for you? Here are some ideas to get you started but write down 10+ things that YOU would love and make time for 2 a day. *Have quiet time in the morning to drink your coffee. *Take a walk. *Make time to stretch. *Prayer or meditation time *Pack a healthy lunch for work. *Listen to music or a podcast you enjoy *Play with your pet *Call a friend *Work on a craft or project 2) Prioritize 3 If it feels like your "To-Do" list is never ending and you can never accomplish things, then it's time to focus in on three. We can expect way to much from ourselves, run around crazy and still feel stressed and frustrated at the end of the day. I'm guilty of doing this... I keep adding things to my various lists, and can bounce around scratching the surface of too many tasks but not really finishing anything. One day when I was feeling overwhelmed a dear friend gave me this tip to pick three. It's so simple right? I'm telling you, try it. *In the morning pick three things you most want to accomplish that day. *Write them down *Focus on those three things. *When other tasks fight for your attention, write them down so you don't forget them, but return to the THREE. *Accomplish those three things and feel great! *Enjoy time with your family. There are always more things we COULD try to do... but SHOULD we? This can be a season of joy for you and your family. Reach out to me. I'd love to connect.
